RambleAmble More Poems Song Lyrics Back to Index

leaves

autumn has come and gone
in wind and color
dying to a frozen landscape
without and within

nothing can move – only
a few black leaves struggle
against the shuttered ledges
of the house

these have held on longest
to fall last,
watched their drifted lovers
spill the rake

aloof – above the common
ritual of burning –
veined small hands writing
in the snow
