Lady's Chamber

Wherever men are threatened by
Defeat, despair or danger,
We have one refuge left to try:
Get to the Lady's Chamber.

When enemies press right and left
And cut the standard o'er us,
When darkness covers Heaven's cleft
And there's no hope before us,

Then look we on our destiny
And Death, he is no stranger,
But still we'll seek the golden key
To open the Lady's Chamber.

Fair maidens, list to what we say,
Who court you for your beauty:
Take no man for what he'll pay,
Take no man for duty.

But whether knock upon your door
Heralds friend or stranger,
If he seek respite from this war
Then open the Lady's Chamber.

When sorcery has turned us mad,
And witlessly we wander,
Oh, for the lass with eyes so glad
And hair of molten amber.

She beckons with a trembling hand,
"Soldier, come from danger.
I'll heal you with my medicines
Here in the Lady's Chamber."

We may seem less than valorous
Caught up in women's magic,
But a draft of laughter and a kiss
Can make this life less tragic.

Wherever men are threatened by
Defeat, despair or danger,
We have one refuge left to try:
Get to the Lady's Chamber.
