Cat Chivalry
The cat came home from the quest,
Muddied and sore he came,
Tattered of ear and matted of chest
But satisfied just the same.
Mistress, you cry me shame,
Dismayed that I strayed all night ~
So I am tired, and so I am lame,
It was a glorious fight!
And where is my saucer of milk? ~ Meow!
Where is my pillow soft?
I know I've been gone for ever so long,
But, Mistress, look what I caught,
Oh, Mistress, look what I caught!
Now dark and mean was the foe
Who tried to steal from me.
You see my whiskers bent and broke ~
But nary a whisker has he!
Surely I'll fight again, again!
Then when I hear your call
Merrily borne the mouse I've won
Here at your feet will fall.
And where is my saucer of milk? ~ Meow!
Why do I hear this complaint?
I've brought you a mouse to keep in the house ~
Mistress, why do you faint?
Oh, Mistress, why do you faint?
